China isnt the second largest economy in the world. Its the world's largest economy. And there isnt backward mobility so people dont perceive de-evolution. People are not losing something that they previously had, they are gaining something they didnt previously have. If they working to produce a good or service that they themselves are not consuming, then they are only made worse off from the activity. However, if they are working to produce a good or service that they themselves are consuming, then they are made better off from the activity. If they are not working to produce a good or service that they are consuming, they are double better off from the activity. China is the best fed country in Asia. No country in Asia eats more meat per capita and has more obese children than the Chinese. Which is also why Japan and Korea imports their food from China.
